Vice President of the Supreme People’s Court Mr Jiang Bixin headed a Chinese delegation which visited Greece in the last week of September 2014. On 25 September Mr Jiang Bixin had a meeting with Greek Minister of Justice Mr Charalambos Athanassiou. On this occasion, they discussed possibilities for further cooperation and future exchanges in the field of justice between the two countries. Ambassador of China in Greece Mr Zou Xiaoli was also present.
In particular, Mr Athanassiou presented the Greek judicial system as well as legislative initiatives speeding up justice procedures. These initiatives are related to bureaucratic obstacles due to the high number of cases in Greek courts as well as to the attraction of foreign investments in the country. As Mr Athanassiou said: ‘In Greece we are proud for the independence of justice. However, we are endeavoring to deal with delays in the administration in order to create a better environment for new investors, such as our friends, the businessmen from China who show a great interest in our country. We are ready and prepared to promote further co-operation’.
From his part, President of the Supreme People’s Court Mr Jiang Bixin presented the Chinese judicial system and focused on the excellent dimension of Sino-Greek relations. He also appreciated the details information provided by the Greek Minister of Justice and proposed the organization of more meetings on themes of mutual interest in the future.
