On 31 March 2015, a spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said that China wants to continue its co-operation with Greece regarding the investment project in the port of Piraeus. That is because such a co-operation will be place in the interest of both countries at the economic and trade level. As the spokesman said, COSCO has – since 2008 – operated in the port of Piraeus (Pier II and III) increasing its profits and also benefiting the Greek state simultaneously.
