Following its scope to globally promote Greek Classical Studies, Letters and Culture in general, the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation will co-operate with Tsinghua University, Beijing.
By supporting outstanding Chinese and Greek scholars to become leaders of tomorrow, the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation and Tsinghua University decided to develop the Tsinghua-Laskaridis Culture Project, aiming to assist and promote Greek Classical and Modern studies, Sino-Hellenic relations and work by Chinese Students and scholars in China and Greece. This will be achieved by academic work and exchanges of Greek and Chinese students and scholars between Greece and China in a number of different activities.
The Project will be part of the Research Center for China-EU Relations at the School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University. This Project will set up a Chair entitled “Marilena Laskaridis Chair for Greek Classical and Modern studies”.
The signing of the agreement took place during a private celebratory event on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at the premises of the “Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation”. The Foundation had the honour of welcoming the Chinese officials, in the firm belief that a robust and comprehensive cultural partnership between China and Greece would provide an unprecedented impetus to promote East-West understanding on a global scale.
