Lecturer in International Relations at the Jan Masaryk Centre for International Studies of the University of Economics in Prague, Jeremy Garlick, wrote an article in Global Times assessing China‘s policy vis-à-vis the Balkans and Central and Eastern Europe. In his view, Beijing is establishing a significant presence while Western Europe has left a vacuum by failing to finance infrastructure works and fully integrating states of Central and Eastern Europe.
