Academic institutions in China-Central Asia to better communicate

photoThe first meeting of China-Central Asia Mechanism for Regular Communication of Academic Institutions took place recently  in Beijing by the Committee of Good-neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Among those in attendance were about 60 representatives from academic institutions of China and the Central Asian countries including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Vice Foreign Minister and Vice Chair of the Committee of Good-neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation of SCO Cheng Guoping attended and addressed the meeting. Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping spoke highly of the positive achievements obtained in the development of the relations between China and Central Asian countries and emphasized that China will enhance the all-round cooperation with the Central Asian countries and together build the Silk Road Economic Belt to achieve common development and prosperity. He expressed his hope that academic institutions and think tanks of all countries can strengthen communication and cooperation so as to contribute their wisdom to the development of China-Central Asia relations. Representatives present at the meeting also discussed issues concerning the China-Central Asia cooperation, the building of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Central Asian situation.
