According to leading European magazine EU Observer, China is interested in participating in Jean-Claude Juncker’s investment package. Journalist Peter Teffer reports on a workshop organised by ChinaEU in June in Brussels in which several European regions attempted to persuade Chinese banks to join the project. Approximately one month earlier Commissioner Jyrki Katainen had said in a interview with Europolitics that the European Commission had been contacted by stakeholders from China although no specific figures could be given.
